About the Self-Care spread
The self-care spread is a kind check-in. Three cards look at what your mind, your body and your heart each need at the moment, and a fourth card turns those needs into one thing you can actually do this week. It is less about predicting anything and more about listening to yourself with a little more attention than usual.
Use it on a Sunday evening, after a demanding stretch, or whenever you notice you have been running on empty. It is good at showing which part of you is quietly asking for care while another part gets all the attention. The cards can prompt reflection, but they are no substitute for medical advice: if your body or mood has been struggling for a while, a doctor is worth a visit.
The positions
- 1Mind. What does your mind need?
- 2Body. What does your body need?
- 3Heart. What does your heart need?
- 4This Week. What is one thing to do about it?
How to lay it out with your own deck
- Shuffle without a specific question, holding in mind how you have been feeling lately.
- Lay three cards in a row, left to right: Mind, Body and Heart.
- Place the fourth card, This Week, below the middle card, beneath Body.
- Read the top row first, then let the This Week card answer whichever of the three needs feels most pressing.

How to read it
- Compare the three need cards. If one is much heavier than the others, that is usually where the week's care should go, even if it is not the one you expected.
- Swords in the Mind position often ask for quiet or fewer inputs; Pentacles in the Body position tend to point to sleep, food, movement and routine; Cups in the Heart position to connection.
- Keep the This Week card practical. Translate it into one small action you could do on an ordinary weekday, such as an early night, a walk or a phone call.
- A bright card in a need position can show something that is already working. Self-care includes noticing what to keep doing.
Questions
- What is a self-care tarot spread?
- It is a short reading that asks what you need rather than what will happen. In this version, three cards look at your mind, body and heart, and a fourth suggests one practical step for the week ahead.
- Can tarot tell me what is wrong with my health?
- No. The cards can help you reflect on habits, stress and what you might be neglecting, but they cannot diagnose anything. For physical or mental health worries, a doctor or other health professional is the right person to ask.
- How often should I do a self-care reading?
- Weekly works well, since the last card is framed around the week ahead. Some readers draw it at the start of each month instead. Looking back at last week's action before drawing again keeps the practice honest.
