About the Love Check-in spread
The Love Check-in is a three-card reading for a relationship as it stands today. One card describes what you are bringing, one what the other person is bringing, and the card between them shows what keeps you connected. It is small enough to read in a few minutes and focused enough to say something real.
Use it when nothing is wrong but you want to take the temperature, after a busy stretch when you have drifted a little, or before a conversation you want to go well. It is good at showing balance: whether both people are giving in a similar way, and what the bond itself rests on at the moment.
The positions
- 1You. What are you bringing to this?
- 2Between You. What holds the two of you together?
- 3Them. What are they bringing to this?
How to lay it out with your own deck
- Shuffle while thinking of the two of you as you are now, rather than of a problem or a hope.
- Lay three cards in a row, left to right: You on the left, Between You in the middle, Them on the right.
- Turn the outer cards first and read them side by side, then turn the middle card and read it as the meeting point of the two.

How to read it
- Compare You and Them before anything else. Matching suits often suggest you are giving in the same currency; different suits can mean you both give a lot but in ways the other may not notice.
- Between You sits in the middle for a reason. If it is a warm card while the outer two are harder, the bond may be stronger than either of you feels day to day.
- The Them card is how they show up for you, not a window into their thoughts. Read it as behaviour you can recognise.
- If the You card surprises you, sit with it. A check-in is often most useful for what it says about your own side.
Questions
- Can I do a love check-in for a relationship that is going well?
- Yes, and it is often most useful then. A calm reading can show what the relationship is quietly resting on and what each of you is giving, which makes it easier to protect those things before anything goes wrong.
- What if the Between You card is a hard card?
- It does not mean the relationship is failing. A hard card in the middle often names something you both feel but have not said, such as tiredness or a habit of avoiding a subject. Naming it can be the first step to easing it.
