How a reading works
- 1
Hold a question
Open a spread with something specific in mind. The positions give the cards a frame, and the question gives the positions one.
- 2
Shuffle and deal
Deal here, or lay out your own deck and choose “Enter my own cards” on any spread to read the cards as you drew them. Deal again as many times as you like; nothing is saved until you choose to.
- 3
Read each position
Every card gets a reading written for the position it landed in, plus its keywords, the story in the picture, and Waite’s original 1911 meanings.
Make it a practice
A free account turns readings into a habit you can look back on. Draw a card each morning, write a line each evening about where it showed up, and set a day to revisit the readings that mattered.
- 1
A card in the morning
The Card of the Day takes a minute. Save it and it waits for you on your calendar.
- 2
A line in the evening
The calendar asks where today’s card turned up. One moment is enough, and it is kept with the draw.
- 3
A look back when it is time
Every saved reading can carry one thing to do and a date to return. The calendar marks the day, and your patterns page shows what keeps coming up.
7 decks, one set of meanings
Readings default to the Rider–Waite–Smith deck (1909), drawn by Pamela Colman Smith and still the deck most people learn on. Switch to a Renaissance, French or modern deck from any spread or card page; the meanings stay the same, the pictures change.
