Questions
How is a tarot birth card calculated?
Add the month, day and year of your birth as whole numbers, for example 7 + 15 + 1985 = 2007. Add the digits of the total (2 + 0 + 0 + 7 = 9) and keep adding digits until the number is 22 or less. That number is your birth card among the Major Arcana, with 22 standing for The Fool.
Why do I have two birth cards?
When the result is 10 or more, its digits are added once more to give a second card. The first is often called the personality card and the second the soul card. A result of 19 gives three: The Sun, Wheel of Fortune and The Magician.
What is a tarot year card?
It uses your birth month and day with the year you want to look at, reduced the same way. It describes the theme of the year from that birthday to the next.
Is a birth card my destiny?
No. Treat it as a lifelong theme to reflect on, not a fixed fate. Many people find their soul card describes something they recognise, and their year cards a useful focus.
