The court cards

Pages, Knights, Queens and Kings as people, as approaches, and as stages of mastery.

The sixteen court cards are the ones beginners find hardest, because they can mean different things. A court card can be another person in your life, a side of yourself, or the way a situation asks to be approached. Let the position and question decide.

Four ranks

Pages are students and messengers: curiosity, beginnings, news. Knights are in motion: action, pursuit, sometimes excess. Queens hold their suit from the inside: mature, receptive, nurturing mastery. Kings hold it from the outside: authority, leadership, mastery expressed in the world.

Rank meets suit

Combine the rank with the suit as a personality. The Knight of Wands is fire in motion, charging ahead. The Queen of Cups is emotional depth held with care. The King of Swords is clear judgement with authority. The Page of Pentacles is a careful learner of something practical.

As people, court cards are not tied to age or gender. A Queen can be anyone who has that quality in your situation, including you.
