Sun in tarot
Rules Leo · 5 decan cards
vitality · self · clarity · success
The Sun is the light the other planets borrow, and in tarot it is the most openly joyful trump: The Sun, a child riding out under a bright sky. It rules Leo, and in the decans it brings success and visibility: think of the Three of Wands' ships coming in or the Eight of Pentacles' skill brought into the light. Where the Sun touches a card, things come into the open.

Solar cards in a spread usually bring clarity, confidence and recognition. They can also show where pride needs the warmth to be shared.
Correspondences follow the Golden Dawn system the Rider–Waite–Smith deck was made within (tropical zodiac, dates approximate; they shift by a day in some years). Other traditions assign some cards differently. See the full table for all 78 cards.
