Reading a spread · 7 min read

Your own practice

Asking good questions, keeping a journal, and looking back to learn what rings true.

Questions that work

Open questions give the cards room: 'What do I need to understand about this job offer?' reads better than 'Will I get the job?'. Ask about yourself and what you can do rather than about what someone else is thinking. Yes-or-no questions have their place, but keep them light.

Asking the same question again straight away rarely helps. If a reading unsettles you, sit with it, write about it, and come back another day.

Write it down

The fastest way to learn tarot is to keep a journal. Save your readings, write a line on each card, and note how you feel. Over weeks the journal shows you your own patterns: cards that keep returning, suits that dominate a season, how your mood moves.

Look back

Set a date to come back to a reading, and when it arrives say honestly how it turned out. Over time you learn which spreads and cards ring true for you, and you become your own best teacher.
